Creative Calligraphy Workshops for ChildrenPresented by Mihaela Mihaylova | Misha Mar
Thе workshop in calligraphy was specifically designed for children as part of the Portrait of the Moon in Black project hosted by the National Gallery. Under the guidance of artist Mihaela Mihaylova, professionally known as Misha Mar, participants were introduced to the foundational principles of both classical and contemporary calligraphy, as well as to the refined aesthetics of sumi-e painting.
Through structured artistic demonstrations, the children engaged with a variety of traditional materials and tools, learned essential brush techniques, and explored the dynamics of ink flow and compositional balance. Each student had the opportunity to produce an individual artwork, inspired by a distinct phase of the Moon, skillfully combining elements of tradition and modernity through the use of calligraphy ink on both white and red paper.
